چکیده

Visual interface systems require object tracking techniques with real-time performance for ubiquitous interaction. A probabilistic framework for a visual tracking system which robustly tracks targets in real-time using color and motion cues is presented. The algorithm is based on particle filtering techniques of the I-Condensation filter. An innovation of the paper is the use of motion cues to guide the propagation of particle samples which are being evaluated using color cues. This results in a probabilistic blob tracking method which is shown to greatly outperform conventional blob trackers when in the presence of occlusion and clutter. A second innovation presented is the use of motionbased temporal signatures for the visual recognition of an initialization cue. This allows for passive initialization of the tracking system. The application presented here is the task of digital video annotation using a hand-held marking device.

A Novel Method for Tracking Moving Objects using Block-Based Similarity

Extracting and tracking active objects are two major issues in surveillance and monitoring applications such as nuclear reactors, mine security, and traffic controllers. In this paper, a block-based similarity algorithm is proposed in order to detect and track objects in the successive frames. We define similarity and cost functions based on the features of the blocks, leading to less computati...

Control of a 2-DoF robotic arm using a P300-based brain-computer interface

In this study, a novel control algorithm, based on a P300-based brain-computer interface (BCI) is fully developed to control a 2-DoF robotic arm. Eight subjects including 5 men and 3 women perform a 2-dimensional target tracking in a simulated environment. Their EEG (Electroencephalography) signals from visual cortex are recorded and P300 components are extracted and evaluated to perform a real...

Application of eye tracking technology for screening and rehabilitation of children with special needs.

Eye tracking is a technology for measuring eye movements when looking at a point. The length of time to look at a particular situation, the sequence of observations, as well as points of attention are processed in the process of eye tracking and eye movements are identified by topics such as fixation, saccade, etc. Information about how the eyes move at a special moment has many potential appli...

Potentials of Evolving Linear Models in Tracking Control Design for Nonlinear Variable Structure Systems

Evolving models have found applications in many real world systems. In this paper, potentials of the Evolving Linear Models (ELMs) in tracking control design for nonlinear variable structure systems are introduced. At first, an ELM is introduced as a dynamic single input, single output (SISO) linear model whose parameters as well as dynamic orders of input and output signals can change through ...

Occlusion-Free Hand Motion Tracking by Multiple Cameras and Particle Filtering with Prediction

This paper proposes a new technique to simultaneously estimate the global hand pose and the finger articulation imaged by multiple cameras. Tracking a free hand motion against a cluttered background is a difficult task. The first reason is that hand fingers are self-occluding and the second reason is the high dimensionality of the problem. In order to solve these difficulties, we propose using ...
